In the THIS HERO DID NOT EXIST project, the StyleGAN2 neural network trained on veteran portraits generates non-existent WWII participants. The immortal neural network regiment, endlessly replenished with new faces, appears in the Russian world of post-truth, where any aged photograph of a man in military uniform is a trigger of the unhealed injury of a distant war. Immersed in the context of ardent patriotism under the cries of "we can repeat" the pictures of relatives lose their identity, dissolving along with the history of people on them, turning into one of the mechanisms of propaganda.
