Through the visual connection between sewer covers and medals the project reflects on what happens to the medals when they become obsolete. What happens to their value once they are no longer worn and being sold on flea markets or eBay? The art piece is also inspired by the legend of the manhole cover that was launched into space during the nuclear test explosion in 1957 in the USA. Will the future wars happen underground and people will receive medals for sewer defense?
